A special quality of the project is that Novi Sad will gain a new urban area with facilities for play and recreation, as well as direct access to the river for all its residents. Within the complex, there will also be two large public squares, a pedestrian street, and new amenities currently lacking in this part of the city, including cultural, commercial, and sports facilities, as well as kindergartens for children.

As part of the investment, Aleksandar Group will provide more than one hectare of its land within this area and donate 100 million dinars for the improvement of sports facilities in the space. These facilities will include an outdoor gym, park furniture, a children’s playground, and courts for football, basketball, volleyball, and the increasingly popular padel.

“We are very pleased to be working on a project that will make Novi Sad an even more beautiful city and an extremely desirable place to live, in line with the world’s best practices. I must admit that it is not often seen globally that an investor donates so much green space. In addition to preserving and expanding green areas, a special challenge – but also a pleasure – was to transform a neglected industrial zone into a successful and healthy neighborhood, which today is of crucial importance for citizens who increasingly choose to live surrounded by greenery and water. We are proud to be part of projects like this one, which transform cities,” said architect Glenn Howells, founder of Howells.

“The most beautiful thing about urban regeneration is the possibility to turn a completely closed industrial site into a green oasis – one that brings life both to people and to nature. Since landscape architecture is our passion, we will bring our many years of experience into this project and combine the best practices from England and Russia with the needs of Serbia,” said landscape architect Benjamin Walker, director of LDA Design.

“At this moment, we are working on the master plan, and we are especially proud of this project, which is among the most ambitious that our group has undertaken so far. This investment is given additional significance through the partnership with both international and domestic planners, and we are confident that together we will provide added value to the residents of Novi Sad. Once the planning document is adopted, we expect to begin work, first on arranging publicly accessible spaces for all citizens of Novi Sad, and then on the rest of the project,” said Olivera Polanec, Director of the company.
